Mr. Eds Bakery in Honomu

We were staying at a cabin nearby that provided some coupons for free breakfast here. Mr Ed was already up and running at 6am with pastries and not coffee - which was great because I had an early flight to catch. I had a bear claw with apple filling and it was yummy. It was so big that I had the other half the following day for breakfast. Mr Ed was super friendly too and chatted with us about life on the island.

Good place to visit after taking a hike at the falls. They have ice cream, snakes, drinks, and fresh baked breads. Furthermore, they even have a little deli where you can order breakfast and lunch items.

Apart from being the nicest guy we met in Big Island, Mr. Ed sells a yuuuuge selection of his own homemade jams and preserves, mostly made from exotic local fruits. These include many interesting combinations, which their friendly staff will let you taste for free. Definitely worth a visit. We ended up coming to just look and bought half the store. :) Our favorite was low-sugar lilikoi, but they were all delicious.

Stopped here one morning a couple weeks ago while waiting for Akaka State Falls to open and had THE BEST SHORTBREAD COOKIES IN MY LIFE. And I’ve had a lot of shortbread cookies. They were so buttery and crumbly and perfect. I wish I could order them online and have them shipped to Florida!

So glad we were flying and didn't have more luggage room, we would have purchased one of every thing!!! SO DELICIOUS!!

Quaint country store. The bakery's turnovers are tasty and filled with intensely flavored jam. One whole wall has dozens of jam and jelly flavors to take home.

Best Local Experience! Mr. Ed and his wife made some delicious teriyaki cheeseburgers on some amazing homemade buns. They have the Best Prices around and have shelves and shelves of homemade jams from local ingredients, think lilikoi, dragon fruit, lime So Many Options! Highly recommend a stop in!

Their jelly and jam collection is insane! The staff was all amazingly kind as well. We grabbed like 5 kinds of cookies for our drive about. Definitely will be back

Great little shop with a staggering variety of jams, jellies, and butters. There is shave ice other candy. The bakery has many delicious treats. I liked the fresh made macaroons. They also have packets of dry rubs made of various kinds of spices, including coffee rubs. This is an easy fo find location and yet another great place to find gifts in Honomu at a good price.

Mr.Eds is always a treat. 1st I'll have an ice cream cone and eat it outside while my wife shops at Glass From The Past. Then we go back inside Mr.Eds and get our cookie fix, you get 3 bags for such a great price that its hard to pick which 3 bags....so, you get 3 more...hahahaha....yeah baby! Love Mr. Ed's Bakery.....its well worth the drive from Pahoa Town.

Mr. Ed himself is quite a character. Located along the way to Akaka Falls, the bakery is really more of a showcase for the huge variety of homemade jams and fruit preserves offered for sale. Free samples available for tasting, and you can also have your order boxed for mailing if taking off island, since TSA WILL confiscate these if you try to bring onboard in carry on luggage.

SUPERB homemade shave ice lilikoi flavor made from fresh juice. Unbelievable variety of homemade preserves, jellies and jams. Very welcoming owner and staff. Historical photos of the area displayed on the wall add to the experience. Several unique shops along the street nearby. I love this town and this bakery!

Great Hawaiian breads, including cinnamon bread, apple-cinnamon sweet loaf and some truly wonderful ginger cookies. Wish we had time to try more. Everything looked and smelled great. Very friendly and welcoming. [in response to Bigdog bigball: I like my cookies crispy. Just because you don’t, doesn’t mean they’re stale.]

Fun little stop while in going to the waterfalls. They have baked goods and where making homemade chili in a Crock-Pot that smelled yummy!! If you can't decide what you want, they have some bite sized options so you can try few different things!

Very nice selection of baked goods and jars of jellies and butters. Great place to pick up some of the flavors of Hawaii. Makes a wonderful gift also!

Sorry Ed I don't know how old your homemade cookies were. BUT they were stale and hard as a rock. Dunking in coffee or milk over night would not help these. I don't know if it's because it's off season but this looks like a two day old store

A great out of the way store where locals hang out and you can get the fluffiest shave ice around. The service was great and it was a good place to stop for a snack and just relax for a while. The cookies were awesome too, we had the ginger and the snicker doodles. Mahalo!

Delicious jams you can sample (they even ship them!) and really friendly folks! Totally worth a stop. I ate the sugarless lilikoi in 4 days so heading back for another before we go home.

Mr. Ed's Bakery is the place to hang out in Honomu, Hawaii... Great Baked Goods, Amazing Jams and Jellies and the Best Homemade Lilikoi Shave Ice! Mr. and Mrs. Ed are the nicest people around!

Not the fanciest stop in Honomu, but it has some treats if you need. The owner has one kid working and he's kind of slow, especially with shave ice. Large selection of jams, jellies, and other preserves. The bakery has a nice selection too. No malasadas though :/ great prices though!

This is a gold mine! So delicious and so many cookies, breads and jelly. they have homemade ice cream too. The owner is super friendly. Please try the guava bear claw!

I love this little bakery/store. Picked up an apple bear claw and some monkey bread. Very good! Got a half banana, half pina colada shaved ice on the way out. So yummy!!

Really awesome selection of homemade butters with island flavors such as Kona Coffee, Lilikoi, Ube, Mango, etc. Complimentary sampling to help you decide which flavors to buy and a nice bakery on the other side. It's run by a really nice couple and is a must stop on your way back from Akaka Falls.

We came here for breakfast after staying at Hamakua guesthouse. The staff was friendly and the sandwhich and bakery amazing! Really tasteful and very well priced. 💯% recommendable!

We stopped here heading to Akaka Falls, it's conveniently located on the way. It's a great Hawaiian bakery, opens early with coffee, huge selection of baked goods, beverages, fresh fruits, lunch foods (American and Hawaiian), and even a gift section.

Yummy donuts, if you want roasted corn they usually only have it till 1pm

Stopped in while we were out and about. This is an excellent find. Not far off the main highway. On the way to Akaka Falls Park. Lots of cool old pictures and trinkets. Local canned vegetables and home made jams made from local fruit await you. The bakery goods were fantastic! The owners are awesome and the service was great. Stop in for a snack and talk story. So friendly! Will definitely visit this business often.

Very tasty snickerdoddle cookies and excellent ice cream. The passion fruit pineapple jam was a bit watery.

So many jam options! The tangerine torture is great. I've used it on sandwiches and as a marinade for roasts. The other jams are good too.

Delightful place, super friendly staff and delicious food. I got a tuna sandwich, some passion fruits and an ensemada/sweet roll which totally blew my mind!! I walked here2-3 times during my stay at the Honomu guesthouse and cabanas, only wish I had picked up one of their jellies or jams

The Paniolo Cookies 🍪 are amazing 😍. 🤤 Ate the whole bag!! Mr. Ed is very friendly and I had a good time chatting with him.
